A striking new sight is taking to the roads of Dorset to raise awareness and vital funds for Weldmar Hospicecare. Chideock based haulage business Cains Farm Transport has transformed one of its fleet lorries into a massive mobile advertisement to support the local charity.
The family run company donated the space on the lorry’s custom-made side curtains, which span an impressive 13.55 metres long and over 3 metres high. The vibrant artwork features the Memory Elephant – an iconic sculpture from Weldmar’s Stampede by the Sea art trail – which now resides permanently in the gardens of their hospice in Dorchester.
Cains Farm Transport first became involved with the charity, who provide specialist care to local adults with a life limiting illness, and support for their loved ones, when they volunteered to move the elephant sculptures across West Dorset, and were eager to maintain their support after the trail concluded.
Colleagues from Weldmar’s Specialist Hospice at Home, Fundraising, and Marketing teams gathered with representatives from Cains Farm Transport at West Bay to officially launch the vehicle’s new look.

“Weldmar is a great charity that personally, and as a family, we can’t do enough for. All that they do, and their nurses and carers do, is absolutely brilliant. We’re very much a family run business, and we felt that we should give something back to Weldmar and donated them the trailer to try and raise funds.”

Having our message on the road across Dorset provides invaluable visibility, reminding the community that our free specialist care is only possible through local support. The lorry will be seen on roads across Dorset, sometimes travelling nationwide, and also appear at a number of agricultural shows and events.
