Hallowe’en Hauntings to screen at Plaza Dorchester on October 30th, with all proceeds going to The Bus Shelter Dorset.
Plaza Dorchester is bringing bite-size scares to the big screen with Hallowe’en Hauntings, a night of short horror films curated by From Beyond the Graves.
Local writer-director Stephen Graves has gathered together a selection of short horror films to chill the blood, featuring vampires, ghosts and things that go bump in the night.
“As a new arrival to Dorset, I’m thrilled to be bringing this collection of horror shorts to Plaza Dorchester,” Stephen said. “I’ve brought together some of my favourite films alongside work from local filmmakers in this showcase of scares.”
Those local filmmakers include writer-director Wyn Wallace, whose short THE COMPLETE PACKAGE features a sinister 1980s tele-dating tape. “Me and all the folks at BNH VIDEO are delighted to be recognised alongside a fantastic programme of short films and screening in our native lands of Dorset, where we’ve made all of our films to date,” Wyn says.
Also screening is Dorset director Jay T. Grimes, whose film MARROW follows a rookie paramedic whose 999 call takes a dark surreal turn. “Always an honour to have your film screened, but especially when it’s at your local cinema!” Jay says.
“Thank you to Stephen and the team for reaching out and including MARROW – really looking forward to seeing the rest of the programme!”
All proceeds from the screening will go to local charity The Bus Shelter Dorset, which provides a safe haven and tailored support for people experiencing homelessness.
“My own short film THE DEAD OF WINTER focuses on rough sleeping, so The Bus Shelter Dorset was a natural fit for our charity partner,” Stephen says. “We’re proud to be able to support them in their mission to stop rough sleeping by providing holistic, non-judgmental care.”
