At approximately 11:13hrs Dorset and Wiltshire fire control mobilised two crews from Dorchester and one crew from Weymouth to reports of a property fire in Dorchester.
Upon arrival it was evident there was smoke issuing but reports of the fire being already extinguished.
One breathing apparatus crew were tasked to confirm the fire was out before ventilating the property.
Resident informed the fire crews of a missing cat. The Breathing Apparatus team then prioritised a search for the cat whilst confirming the fire was out.
The flat was heavily smoke logged so once the rescue of the cat was effected, crews used oxygen therapy on the cat using equipment donated from Smokey Paws charity.
The cat is now fine and once the flat was ventilated and the cause of fire was determined, isolated and removed.
