Weldmar Hospicecare has launched the first charity shop window contactless donation point in Dorset. It allows anyone to make an immediate donation to the Dorset charity, day or night, if they are passing the device in the street.
Weldmar has just launched a trial run with the device in their shop in Trinity Street in Dorchester, and if it’s successful, they will appear in more of their 26 shops and outlets in the county.
The idea is simple – just tap your debit or credit card, or smart device, on the window in front of the donation station, and you will automatically donate £3 to Weldmar Hospicecare.
Matt Smith, Director of Fundraising and Marketing for Weldmar Hospicecare, says, “Year on year we are becoming a cashless society, paying for our shopping with our contactless cards and smart devices and we have seen the effect this has had on charitable income over the last few years. Installing contactless donation devices in our shop windows provides a quick and easy way to support Weldmar Hospicecare. The money raised will enable us to continue providing outstanding end of life care to patients and their loved ones and continue to support them through one of life’s most difficult journeys. As we see the demand for our services increase, it is vital that we meet this with financial support from the community we so proudly serve.”
Another donation point has been installed at Weldmar’s Inpatient Unit in Dorchester.
Donations will help raise vital funds towards the end of life care that Weldmar Hospicecare provides in Dorset, to patients and their loved ones. £18,000 has to be raised each day to keep these services going.
