Flood Warning for Upper Frome at Maiden Newton

A Flood Warning has been issued by the Environment Agency.

Flooding is expected for: Dorchester Road and Frome Lane area of Maiden Newton.

River levels have risen at the Maiden Newton river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall falling on saturated ground. Further heavy rainfall associated with Storm Dennis is expected over the weekend.  Consequently, there is a significant risk of flooding of flooding for areas in Hooke, Toller Porcorum, Toller Fratrum, Cattistock, Higher Frome Vauchurch, Frome Vauchurch, and Maiden Newton.
There is more rain forecast over the coming days and so we expect river levels to remain high.  We are closely monitoring the situation. You are advised not to drive through flood water. This message will be updated as the situation develops.
