Local GP Dr Craig Wakeham passed away at the weekend having been admitted to Dorset County Hospital. He had been fighting coronavirus for many days according to a statement on the Cerne Abbas Surgery website.
He was part of the team at Cerne Abbas Surgery for more than 30 years and a leading light within the Clinical Commissioning Group and the Local Medical Committee.
Patricia Miller CEO of Dorset County Hospital paid tribute on Twitter saying: “So very sad to hear of the passing of Dr Craig Wakeham. Craig was a fantastic GP, always professional, kind and dedicated. Dorset will be poorer without him. My thoughts are with his colleagues, friends and loved ones”
Margaret Alsop a Governor at the Hospital added: “Thoughts are with his family and friends”.
With Sarah Roberts commenting: “ A much respected, compassionate clinician and mentor. Dedicated and passionate about patient centred care and all things diabetes. You will be greatly missed by many”
Fellow Doctors at Cerne Abbas, Dr Jeremy Dobbs & Dr Jenny Bubb added in the statement. “His legacy lives on in our patients who he cared for diligently, and in the good name he built for our surgery”
