As the coronavirus Government-directed lockdown continues, Dorchesters Brewery Square retailers are pulling together to make a difference and give back to their local community.
From donating food to supplying personal protective clothing and gloves, many retailers have found a way to do good in a time of uncertainty. Various retailers at Brewery Square, which have closed doors temporarily, are now offering a home delivery service to the local community.
These include Belle Modelle, Copper Street Brewery, Vinyl Van, The Highbrow Clinic and Aesthetics, Stems Florist, Woods Furniture, Seventh Seal and Loco Loves. Delivery information is available on the retailers own websites and social media channels for shopper information.
The team at soft furnishings and interiors retailer Margo and Mya have been utilising their skills to manufacture protective scrubs for those that need them working in the areas care sector, such as the local hospital and care homes which are in need of these. To date, they have helped to raise more than £900 which will be used to purchase further materials required to make the scrubs.
The Highbrow Clinic, a specialist clinic providing non-surgical aesthetic procedures, has donated its stock of blue vinyl gloves to local GP surgeries and is also raising funds for Dorchesters local food bank.
Several of the food outlets at Brewery Square including Nandos, Pizza Express and Wagamamas donated food stock to staff at NHS Dorset County Hospital as lockdown measures commenced. Costa Coffee also delivered unused food to Signature House nursing home for its staff.
The team from Hygge Wellness and The Breathing Space are also helping key workers in the local area and offering free online videos to help those in isolation stay well and healthy from home. Alongside this, Anytime Fitness have released free at home work-out videos on their social media channels.
Charlotte Spracklen, centre manager at Brewery Square, commented: With non-essential outlets temporarily closed, many of the Brewery Square retailers have stepped up to help key workers and the community by using their skills and stock in new and creative ways. Despite the closures, it is wonderful to hear about the efforts being made by many retailers to support the local community, and in particular our NHS and care home heroes.
She added: We are delighted that many of the Brewery Square retailers are delivering locally. This is a very difficult time for all businesses, however we would like to thank our retailers who are all working extremely hard in these unprecedented circumstances to ensure visitors are able to purchase goods and services online.
Touts Pharmacy, the Atrium Health Centre and Moorland Express convenience store based at Brewery Square currently remain open.
