Facebook video of dancing First Wessex bus staff goes viral

A video of First Wessex Bus staff dancing to a popular disco tune has gone viral after it was posted on the operator’s Facebook page. Within a week of posting, the video amassed well over 100,000 views and First Wessex’s Facebook page has been inundated with positive comments.

Set to the 1998 music hit ‘We like to Party! (The Vengabus)’ by Dutch music sensation The Vengaboys, the video shows staff at Weymouth Depot dancing, having fun and throwing poses.
First Wessex operations manager Carol Sim came up with the idea: “I was just thinking of a way to put a cheer to people’s faces. It’s a difficult time for everyone, with people worried about their own health or that of loved ones, or their jobs, and many of our own colleagues furloughed because of lack of demand. I just wanted to do something to lift the spirit, to cheer people up; that’s just the way I am”.

Since posting on Thursday afternoon, the post has been seen by more than 107,000 viewers and shared over a thousand times. Carol: “The response we had was truly magnificent, and it’s all positive. It shows people are just crying out for some positivity.”
