The Prime Minister’s ban on gatherings of more than six individuals in England last night has led Weymouth & Portland Chamber Of Commerce and Weymouth BID to remind businesses and customers of the area’s new hospitality app.
‘Capp’ is free for smartphones, allowing businesses to show in real time their capacity and how many spaces are available, ensuring compliance with government guidelines.
Chamber of Commerce President, Craig Oakes said “quite simply, customers are able to select an area of their choice using the live tracking system and are then asked to scan a QR code when entering a building. We believe this system helps take pressure off local business, ensures GDPR compliance and plays a part in restricting the spread of Coronavirus”.
Restaurants, shops, entertainment venues and others are able to use the service for free by downloading the app, providing some basic details about their premises and displaying the QR code for scanning. Customers without a smartphone can be added manually.
“The more that local businesses get behind this system, the more effective it will be in the fight against Covid-19”, said Craig Oakes. “We hope that people using this app will feel a level of security, knowing that their personal data is safe whilst enabling the government and NHS to
track a case and inform those affected”.
Launched in Weymouth & Portland in early August with the backing of the Chamber, the BID and Weymouth Town Council, the ‘Capp’ app is easily searchable and downloadable for Apple and Android devices.
