Aspire Adoption, one of the country’s first Regional Adoption Agencies, has placed its 200th child with their forever family.
The Adoption Agency for Dorset Council and Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole (BCP) Council have continued, without pause, through the Covid-19 pandemic, to find families for those children across the county who need an adoptive family to give them the security and love that they deserve. Aspire has successfully placed 46 children with their adoptive families since Covid restrictions began.
Aspire has found families for children who have come from a wide range of backgrounds and needs, and have successfully placed school age children, sibling groups, children from Black or Asian backgrounds and children with additional needs, be it a physical or learning disability. However, Aspire would still like to hear from anyone who would consider adoption, particularly those wishing to give a home to an older child or siblings.
Gail & her husband, adopters of Aspire’s most recent placement said:
“Since our little boy came to live with us just over two weeks ago, we can easily say our lives will never be the same again! He came from a loving foster home with a highly experienced carer, who supported us during the process, as have Aspire, every step of the way! He is a wonderful, adorable, loving little boy- but at three & a half years old, if he doesn’t want to do something, you hear about it! It’s a big change for us all, & we are settling in more & more every day. We have been working towards this time for many years, so are thrilled to have him at home with us…..but exhausted too!! Aspire are supporting us thoroughly with lots of help from dedicated, experienced professionals to keep us going…….! Thank you very much!”

“It is an amazing achievement to have placed our 200th child with their adoptive family in just over 3 years. But there are many children who still need a forever family and I urge anyone who has been thinking about adoption to give us a call and have a chat with us. We are always looking for potential adopters for children of all ages, but in particular we would like to speak to anyone considering siblings, children aged 4 or over, those with additional needs and children from different ethnicities.
To be eligible to adopt you have to be 21 or over, you can be single, married or in a long term relationship. You can be from any ethnic or religious background and it doesn’t matter if you are heterosexual or from the LGBTQ+ community. All sorts of people can make great adopters. We would love to hear from anyone who can give a safe and loving home to a child.”
Aspire are asking anyone who is considering adoption to give them a call on 0300 123 9868 and have a chat with Sue or Dave, who will be happy to talk to you. More information can be found on the Aspire website www.aspireadoption.co.uk or on our Facebook & Twitter sites. There will also be a virtual information evening on Monday 1st March for those interested in adoption, where members of the Aspire team will be joined by a couple who adopted a sibling pair.
