Getting a good night’s sleep

World Sleep Day took place on 19th March, a celebration of the benefits a good and healthy sleep can bring to our lives. It also aims to help raise awareness of the problems that a bad night’s sleep can bring and help those with sleep problems. The slogan for this year is ‘Regular Sleep, Healthier Future’.

We spend up to one-third of our lives sleeping, so it is important to practice sleep hygiene. Here are some things you can do to get a good night’s sleep:

  • Have a fixed bedtime and wake time
  • Exercise
  • Cut back on caffeine
  • Unplug – try not to look at your phone or laptop 60 minutes before bed
  • Practice meditation
