The incident, which happened on Coombe Road in Winterbourne Steepleton, was reported to police at 7.23pm on Sunday 30 May 2021. It involved a black Harley Davidson motorcycle and a grey Ford Focus.

Sadly, the motorcyclist – a man in his 50s and from Yeovil – died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and the coroner notified.

A road closure is in place to enable emergency services to attend the incident.

Police Sergeant Mark Scammell, of the traffic unit, said: “Tragically, the motorcyclist lost his life and my thoughts go out to his family and friends.

“We are trying to establish what exactly happened and are conducting a thorough investigation of the scene.

“Any witnesses who have not spoken with police yet or anyone who may have information that could assist our investigation is asked to contact us as soon as possible.

“In addition, I am keen to hear from anyone who might have captured relevant dashcam footage.

“I would like to thank any affected motorists for their patience during the necessary road closure, which allows us to respond to the incident and collect evidence in a safe way.”
