Dorset COVID Update 4 June 2021

Case rates remain low in the Dorset Council and BCP area this week. However, nationally, cases are starting to increase so it is important to remain vigilant to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Dorset.

The best way to protect yourself and others is to continue to follow the rules on hands, face, space and fresh air, do twice weekly rapid tests and get both doses of the vaccine when it’s offered to you.

Routine testing is really important when cases are low. If everyone takes part in regular rapid testing, we can find and isolate cases in people without symptoms, preventing them from unknowingly spreading the virus. As restrictions have been eased and we start to socialise more with others, regular testing helps protect your friends, family and everyone you come into contact with in your day to day life. If you’ve been vaccinated, you should do regular testing as there’s a chance you could still catch and spread COVID-19. Find out where to get lateral flow tests.

If you develop any symptoms of COVID-19, don’t use a rapid lateral flow test. Book a PCR test online or by calling 119 and self-isolate with your household whilst you wait for the result. You should do this even if you develop mild symptoms (a new, continuous cough, a high temperature or a loss or change in your sense of taste or smell).
