Bagwell’s Weekend Win for Dorchester Ladies FC

On Saturday 26 September, Dorchester Ladies FC faced a tough battle at home against last season’s league runners up Weymouth FC Women.

There were strong midfield battles in the first half which led to a competitive game, but Dorchester took the lead after 20mins as Bagwell showed greater strength to force home a Bartlett corner.

The Magpies were 2-0 up at the end of the first half as a second Bartlett corner was converted, again by Bagwell. Weymouth pulled one back early in the second half, but almost immediately Bagwell scored again with an outstanding strike from well outside the box.

The last 20 minutes saw Dorchester sitting deeper but still absorbing good pressure from Weymouth, despite some outstanding goalkeeping from Stimpson-Peay, inevitably legs tired and The Terras converted their second after 75mins.

The ladies continued to work hard right to the final whistle in a match that finished Dorchester 3 – Weymouth FC Women 2.

The club have said: “Three games into the season there is still a lot for the team to learn and work on but today was a fantastic result. We wish The Terras all the best this season.”
