Weymouth RNLI all-weather lifeboat was launched at 5.20pm on Sunday 10th October at the request of Solent Coastguard to go to the aid of a 6 metre angling boat which had broken down off Portland near to Chane Weares.
The vessel, with two persons on board, had suffered engine failure but was fitted with an auxiliary engine. However, this also failed to start and she was some 3 miles South of Portland Bill when the lifeboat found them at 5.55pm.
Having established that the crew of the vessel were fit and well, a line was passed and the vessel taken under tow to Portland Marina.
The lifeboat then returned to station at 8pm and refuelled and made ready for the next shout.
