Last night (Monday 11th April 2022) at approximately 7.45PM, a fire crew from Dorchester and a crew from Beaminster were called to reports of a property fire in the Warmwell/Crossways area.
Due to the size and nature of the fire, the crews on scene requested further assistance from an additional crew. Firefighters extinguished the fire using 4 breathing apparatus, 1 main line jet and 1 hose reel jet. Crews left the scene around 11pm.
Damage was limited to one compartment and two adjoining compartments were saved from any fire damage.
The two picture, from Dorchester Fire Station Facebook Page, come from the adjoining rooms.
The service are emphasising why it’s important to close any door, especially at night when you’re asleep. Whilst there was a lot of fire damage, the smoke damage is also very obvious, smoke (or fire gases) are a silent killer and travels between rooms very quickly.
