Wessex Water volunteers lend a helping hand

To celebrate Volunteers’ Week 2022 (1 to 7 June), Wessex Water has revealed nearly 500 of its employees have taken part in volunteering activities in the last 12 months.

Wessex Water gives its employees one paid ‘Water Force’ volunteering day every year to support a project, charity or community group of their choice.

In total, 482 people from the water and sewerage company volunteered in the last 365 days, supporting good causes across Bath, Bristol, Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset.

Jennifer Staton, who is a community engagement coordinator at Wessex Water, said: “We want to celebrate the good things our staff have been up to this Volunteers’ Week. Our volunteers supported 23 organisations across the region over the last year, including the Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset Wildlife Trusts, Bath City farm, Litter Free Dorset, The Willows Care Farm, Quantock Hills AONB and Lawrence Weston Community Farm in Bristol.

“They carried out a range of volunteering activities, such as beach cleans in Dorset, tree planting in Somerset, river cleans in Bath and Bristol and maintaining wildflower meadows in Wiltshire.”
