Long-serving boat charity gets cash boost from Weymouth Rotary

Weymouth’s M.V. Freedom, a charity-run boat for people living with disability has received further funding for its good work from Weymouth Rotary.

Once again, the monies the club were able to donate came from the successful return of Fayre In The Square in the spring – and Dirk Aldous, Chairman and Skipper, attended one of the recent Rotary meetings, held at Pilgrim House on Hope Square, Weymouth.

Weymouth Rotary President, David Langridge, said “we’re thrilled to be able to continue our charitable support of the M.V. Freedom. It’s so important that everybody has the opportunity to take to the water in our sea-faring town – and we hope our latest donation helps to empower, encourage and create enjoyment for those living with disabilities”.

Dirk Aldous said “Weymouth Rotary Club have been one of our staunchest supporters over many years, and once again we are hugely appreciative of yet another most generous donation to our funds. We do not receive any statutory funding and we have no paid staff, so at a time of rising costs, every penny is very gratefully received. With over 2,900 bookings this season, the demand for beneficial sea going trips from our very deserving passengers has never been higher”.
