Senior men’s county rugby returns to Dorchester on Saturday for the first time in over 20 years. The Dorset & Wilts senior men’s team lock horns with their East Midlands counterparts in the semi-final of the Bill Beaumont RFU County Championship kicking off 3 00pm with the winners going into the final at Ealing Trailfinders Rugby Club.
Dorset & Wilts have already beaten Gloucestershire, Devon and Berkshire in the pool games and are totally focused progressing into the final and returning with the trophy which they have done on three previous occasions.
A county spokesman said, “The cricket season may have started, but there is still a lot of rugby to play so why not come up to Dorchester Rugby Club Coburg Road and cheer the team all the way to the final”.
The Egdon Easy is a flat 10km race which is mostly on the paths and cycle ways around Weymouth’s Lodmoor Nature Reserve and Country Park, starts at 7 00pm on Saturday evening and is open to all runners aged 15 (on race day) and above. Weymouth College is the venue for registration, start and finish where there are facilities for changing, showering and refreshments.
Dorchester Football Club’s Under 18 team who have already won the League and League Cup and are chasing a treble entertain Winchester City Reds in the Hampshire Combination Under-18 Challenge Cup final at the Avenue Stadium on Friday evening (7.45pm).
In the Dorset League Cricket all of our local clubs are in action on Saturday with games staring at 1 00pm.
Premier Division, Dorchester v Blandford, Martinstown v Bere Regis and Poole v Cattistock and Symene.
Jamie Barrett scored 40 for Dorchester against Bere Regis last week.
