Car crash in Poundbury – appeal for witnesses

Officers investigating a road traffic collision in Dorchester are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.

Dorset Police received a report at 3.53pm on Wednesday 5 July 2023 of a single-vehicle collision involving a blue Renault Modus at the roundabout between the junctions with Peverell Avenue West and Bridport Road.

The driver, a woman aged in her 70s from the Dorchester area, did not sustain any injuries. She was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Cristopher Windows, of Dorchester police, said: “I am keen to speak with anybody who witnessed the collision or may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.

“I understand a member of the public stopped to help following the incident, but left the scene prior to police arrival, and I am appealing for them to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230104602. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
