Motorcyclist has life threatening injuries following collision in Weymouth

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a serious injury collision in Weymouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 8.32am on Thursday 27 July 2023 of a collision involving a Zontes motorcycle and a red Skoda Fabia in Newstead Road at the junction with the A354 near Asda.

The rider of the motorcycle has been taken to hospital for treatment by the ambulance service. His condition is described as life threatening.

The driver of the Skoda did not sustain any serious injuries.

Road closures were in place to allow emergency services to safely deal with the incident.

Police Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “An investigation is underway to establish what happened and I am appealing for any witnesses to please come forward.

“I am keen to hear from any motorists with a dashcam fitted who may have relevant footage to assist my enquiries.

“Finally, I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place. They were absolutely necessary to enable us to conduct a thorough investigation.”
