A detailed investigation by Weymouth Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) has led to a prolific shoplifter being made the subject of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
Nigel Shaun Treadwell, 46 and of Weymouth, will be subject to the order for a period of five years after it was authorised at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday 24 February 2025.
Treadwell has been convicted for multiple shoplifting and anti-social behaviour offences in the Weymouth area, and the town’s NPT has been working hard to secure the CBO in response.
The CBO imposes the following restrictions on Treadwell:
He cannot enter Weymouth town centre except for when attending pre-arranged appointments
He cannot congregate in a group number greater than three in parts of Weymouth town centre as specified on an exclusion map
He cannot be drunk or consuming alcohol in a public place, except for in licenced premises
He cannot enter or be found in any premises, building or business to which he has been banned from
Police Constable Bryce Scott-Jones, of Weymouth NPT, said: “Treadwell is a prolific shoplifter who has frequently targeted businesses in the Weymouth area and has been involved in anti-social behaviour.
“Securing this CBO for a five-year period is the end result of months of hard work from the NPT team. We will continue to take proactive action to prevent and deter crime and protect our communities from such offenders.
“I would urge members of the public to please contact the police if Treadwell is seen to breach the terms of his order so that the matter can be investigated.”
