Christmas Weekend Sports Report

It was very much mixed fortunes for our local football teams over the Christmas holiday weekend.

On Saturday Weymouth drew 1 all at home against lowly Dover Athletic, their goal coming from Brandon Goodship, Dorchester lost 2 nil away at Chesham, but Portland United delivered the Christmas cheer beating Christchurch by 3 goals to nil at Grove Corner, their scores coming from Jacob Coombs, Josh Williams and Connor Callow.

On Boxing Day, the Terras travelled to high flying Weston Super Mare and returned with 3 goals to 2 victory in the bank.

Goodship delivered again with two more goals coming from Harry Parsons and Tom Bearwish.

the Terras striker Brandon Goodship delivered 2 Christmas presents for Weymouth.

Dorchester hosted Poole Town at the Avenue Stadium and despite getting the ball into the back of the Dolphin’s net twice one was controversially struck off after an assistant referee had flagged for a debatable offside decision and to add insult to injury Shaq Gwengwe had an injury time penalty saved by Poole keeper Lloyd Thomas that would have leveled it up for the Magpies and they had to settle for a 2 goals to 1 defeat.

The Magpies former Poole forward Will Spetch bundled the ball into the back of the Dolphin’s following a goalmouth scramble.

At Saint Mary’s Stadium neither Bridport or their visitors Axminster could trouble the scoreboard operator and the game ended goalless.
