A man has been charged and due to appear in court in connection with an alleged assault in Weymouth.
Dorset Police received a report at 8.42pm on Saturday 4 May 2024 that a man had sustained suspected stab wounds following an assault in Canberra Road.
The victim – aged in his 30s – was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries that are not life-threatening.
A second victim, a woman aged in her 30s, sustained an injury to her hand during the incident that also required hospital treatment.
Following an investigation by detectives from Dorset County CID, a 20-year-old Weymouth man has been charged with wounding with intent, inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 9 May 2024.
A 53-year-old man, also from Weymouth, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
