CCTV appeal following reported serious assault in Weymouth

Detectives are issuing CCTV images of two women they believe could assist their enquiries as they continue to investigate a reported serious assault in Weymouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 2.50am on Saturday 14 June 2025 of two men with injuries in the town centre.

Officers attended alongside the ambulance service and it was reported that the two men – aged in their 20s – had previously been assaulted in Maiden Street and sustained suspected stab wounds.

Their injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening and they were taken to hospital for treatment.

An 18-year-old man and two 19-year-old men, all from Weymouth, were initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They have been released without charge in relation to this reported incident.

Following further enquiries, a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both have been released on police bail.

Detectives continue to conduct detailed enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened and are now issuing CCTV images of two women they would like to speak to as potential witnesses.

Detective Inspector Ben Griffin, of Dorset County CID, said: “We would like to make it clear that we do not suspect these women were involved in the reported assault, but we believe they may have information that could assist our enquiries.

“I would urge anyone with information relating to any of their identities to please make contact with us.

“I am also appealing to anyone who has any other information that could assist our investigation to please come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250084968. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
