Chesil Bank is set to come alive this summer as the parish prepares to host the Chesil Bank Country Fayre on Sunday, 16 August 2026, from 12pm to 4pm at the newly refurbished Chesil Recreation Ground. This much-anticipated community celebration marks a major milestone for the area, honouring both the official opening of the revitalised Recreation Ground and the completion of the new permissive path linking Portesham to the site.
The Fayre, which takes place at Portesham Recreation Ground, DT3 4HF, promises to be a vibrant showcase of local heritage, rural traditions, and the strong community spirit that defines Chesil Bank. Designed as a day for residents and visitors alike, the event brings together the many organisations, volunteers, and businesses that contribute to the character and charm of the parish.
Visitors can look forward to a lively mix of attractions, including traditional country fayre stalls, local food and drink, and craft displays celebrating the skills and creativity of local makers. Families will find plenty to enjoy, with children’s activities, traditional races, and a family dog show sure to draw smiles and friendly competition.
Adding to the fun, the Fayre will also feature a scarecrow competition and the ever-popular Chesil Bank Bake Off, inviting bakers of all ages to show off their culinary talents. Community entertainment throughout the afternoon will help create a warm, inclusive atmosphere befitting this special occasion.
The event’s organisers hope the Fayre will serve as both a celebration and a moment of connection—an opportunity for neighbours to come together, for visitors to discover the area’s rural charm, and for everyone to enjoy the renewed Recreation Ground that will serve the parish for years to come.
With its blend of tradition, creativity, and family-friendly fun, the Chesil Bank Country Fayre is set to be a highlight of the summer calendar and a fitting tribute to the community’s hard work and shared pride in its local spaces.
