People living in Littlemoor and Broadwey in Weymouth are being given the chance to help shape a £20 million investment programme that could transform the area over the next decade.
The neighbourhood will receive £2 million a year for ten years through the UK Government’s Pride in Place programme. Because local people know their community best, residents are being asked to decide what improvements matter most and help set the priorities for how the funding is spent.
A new Neighbourhood Board was set up in July to lead the work, and board members have decided to launch a public consultation to make sure everyone has the chance to contribute.
Starting today (Monday 10 August), a leaflet containing a short survey will be distributed to households across Littlemoor and Broadwey. Residents can submit ideas by posting the leaflet into a suggestion box, sending it by post or completing the survey online.
Suggestion boxes and extra copies of the leaflet will be available in shops and community buildings throughout Littlemoor and Broadwey from today.
Littlemoor Library will be offering extra help to anyone who needs support to complete the form. The survey is open for comments until 14 September 2026 and residents can also complete the survey online.
Kevin Hodder, Chair of the Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board said: “We are asking people to think about what improvements they would like to see in their street, in their neighbourhood and for the whole community. It is really quick and easy to send in suggestions and we want to hear from as many people as possible. All ideas are welcome – whether small scale projects or long-term ambitions. We might not be able to do everything but we promise to read every suggestion and will make sure the Pride in Place plan is led by what the community wants.”
Cllr Matt Bell, Cabinet Member for Public Health, Prevention & Communities, said: “Pride in Place is an exciting opportunity for the community to take control of their own neighbourhoods and bring about meaningful, lasting change. I really encourage local people to make their voices heard by filling in this short survey to contribute their views.”
All suggestions received as part of the community consultation will be considered by the Neighbourhood Board for inclusion in the draft Pride in Place plan for Littlemoor and Broadwey, which will set out a 10-year vision for the area.
The board will hold two community meetings in October to give residents the opportunity to comment on the draft plan before it is finalised. The final plan must be submitted to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in November.
