Appeal following reported assault and racially aggravated public order offence in Weymouth

Police officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following a reported assault and racially aggravated public order offence in Weymouth.

It was reported that at around 3.30pm on Friday 2 October 2026 a man was racially abusive towards two Asian women in at the Good2Go store in Westham Road. When another women challenged the man, she was reportedly assaulted.

The woman is not believed to have sustained any serious injuries.

Officers attended the scene and a local man aged in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of assault and a racially aggravated public order offence. He was released on police bail as further enquiries are carried out.

Investigations Officer Dave Burn, of the Weymouth Volume Crime Team, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I am keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our enquiries.

“At this time we have not identified the two women who were reportedly subjected to racial abuse at the Good2Go store and I would urge them to please come forward so we can take their account.”
