Well, Shiver Me Timbers on a day when Weymouth was invaded by Pirates, South East Dons sailed into town and scuppered the Terras dreams of progressing any further in the FA Cup. The Dons produced a swashbuckling five-goals-to-one victory and cruised back to the capital with the Treasure of a place in Monday’s FA Cup Draw.
Our Man at the Match said: “It’s the romance of the FA Cup when a team from a lower league beat a side with a higher status”.
“The Dons came out full of confidence and were helped by some defensive errors on Weymouth’s part; the Terras struck the woodwork a couple of times, but in the end the Dons were worthy of a 5 -1 win, and the margin could even have been more”.
“I did overhear one Weymouth fan come out with the old cliché at least we can now concentrate on the league”, where Weymouth are unbeaten so far this season.
The Terras goal was scored by Brooklyn Genesini.
In the Southern League Division 1, Dorchester leapfrogged their hosts Swindon Supermarine and Weymouth to go on to top the league table following their one-nil victory at The Imagine Cruising Stadium.

In the same division, Portland United came good late on to beat Bideford 2-1 away, with Jacob Coombs and Harley Brook scoring the Blues’ goals.
In South West Peninsular League East, Bridport lost at St Mary’s, beaten one-nil by Bishops Lydeard.

Above: former Weymouth Rugby Club player and club officer Bob Green returned to the town from his home in Norway with his wife, Marit. They met up with some of Bob’s former teammates at the club’s Monmouth Avenue clubhouse. Bob said, “It’s great to meet up with some of the lads I grew up playing alongside. We watched the game and then retired to the bar to recall stories from our time playing together.”
