The squirrels are foraging for their winter stores at this time of year and as the island is closed to the general public, they tend to be more visible. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to visit the island out of season and catch sight of the red squirrels. We’re working with the John Lewis Partnership to offer visitors the opportunity to visit the Castle and enjoy a delicious cream tea. (Third of four red squirrel walks. See also 28th November)

Dorchester Drama are back at Dorchester Arts in November with their production of Noel Coward’s sparkling comedy Blithe Spirit. Performances are at 7:30 pm with a 2:00 pm matinee on the Saturday. Free entry, family friendly fundraising event in support of local arts, crafts, gifts, wellness small businesses and families. Raising money in support of Mosaic Dorset helping bereaved children. Adults browse various stalls whilst children enjoy Usborne reading corner, magic painting & other activities. Grab a cuppa, mince pie, some cake and enjoy a little something for yourself or Christmas gift.

The Occasional Singers will perform a programme of Advent part songs. Taking us from 1607 through to the present day, the songs and carols will range from contemplative to joyful. Admission is FREE. There will be a retiring collection in aid of Dorchester Poverty Action. All are welcome.

Born with a beautiful sound but no name, Lev’s Violin was valued as worthless. Although its origins remained a mystery, many tales were attached to Lev’s Violin, some true and some wonderfully untrue. Old and worn by its travels, Lev’s Violin eventually broke a few years ago, and the instrument became the subject of a book by Helena Attlee, Lev’s Violin: An Italian Adventure….
