£15,000 given to community organisations

The Dorchester Market Car Boot Fund has awarded over £15,000 worth of grants to community organisations in the Dorchester area. Dorset Council collects the income from people who hired pitches at the weekly car boot sales. These are held on Sunday mornings in Fairfield Car Park in Dorchester. All the income collected is then awarded to local community organisations.

There were many projects and organisations that benefited from the grants. These include pre-school, sports and youth clubs. Projects for people with disabilities or long-term health related issues also received grants.

Successful organisations attended a celebration tea at the Town Hall in Dorchester on Friday 4 October 2019. They received certificates from Councillor Anthony Alford, Chair of the Dorchester Markets Car Boot Fund and Councillor David Taylor, Deputy Mayor of Dorchester Town Council.

Councillor Alford said: “It’s wonderful to award £15,000 to these local organisations. We recognise the hard work that they do to make lives better for others. Thank you to those who hire pitches at the car boot sale in Dorchester.”
