UPDATE: As of Tuesday morning (4 May) the tree has been removed and the road is clear.
Strong winds tonight (3 May) have brought down a tree across Great Western Road in Dorchester, completely blocking the road and affecting parked cars. It is not known at this time whether damage or injury has been caused.
From the photo it appears that the tree has broken several feet up from ground level, rather than being uprooted, presumably indicating a weakness in the trunk.
Forecasted for the rest of the night are scattered blustery showers moving across the region with winds remaining strong through the night.
