Countryside Matters 04.03.24

This edition is a hedgerow special, with contributions from Dorset wildlife writer Jane Adams talking about the wildlife value of our hedgerows and what sort of animals and plants are found in them. Also from John Calder, who’s the Project Manager of the Dorset Climate Action Network’s Great Big Dorset Hedge Project.  He’s talking about the hedgerow surveys that they conduct on Dorset farms. And finally, Durweston farmer George Hosford shows me a couple of the hedgerows on his farm and talks about the value to farmers of having good hedgerows on their land, and about the Sustainable Farming Incentive, which pays farmers (not a huge amount!) to look after their hedgerows. Presented by Jenny Devitt.
