Countryside Matters 02.09.24

Today – Dorset Council Leader Nick Ireland talks about the “Nature Emergency” and what this should now mean for all Council actions and proposals • Ecologist and scientist Professor Debbie Bartlett is carrying out research into the numbers of our native, so called common dormouse, highly endangered and highly protected, and says why she thinks current dormouse population monitoring techniques are flawed • Mike Burks, Managing Director of the Gardens Group, talks about carnivorous plants – some species of which are on sale at the Gardens Group’s garden centres and about interesting plant adaptations • Nick Lawrence of the Wild Trout Trust explains this charity’s role and how they’re trying to help improve the health and biodiversity of our much-challenged rivers! Presented by Jenny Devitt…
