Pedestrian receives serious injuries in collision on the A35 near Dorchester

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward after a serious collision in Dorchester.

Dorset Police received a report at 1.47pm on Thursday 19 September 2024 of a collision involving a red Jeep Compass and a pedestrian on the A35 at Kingston Pond.

The pedestrian – a woman aged in her 70s from Poole – was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the car was not injured.

Road closures were put in place to allow emergency services to safely deal with the incident. The closures were lifted at around 5.15pm.

Police Sergeant Mike Burt, of the traffic unit, said: “I am appealing to any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“If you were travelling in the area and have a dashcam fitted to your vehicle, I would ask you to please check your footage for anything of relevance to help my enquiries.

“Finally, I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place. They were in place to allow us to safely treat the injured person and carry out a detailed scene examination.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk via email at scit@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240144661.
