UPDATE: 60 year old female driver arrested after knocking 12 year old off bicycle in Weymouth

Following a reported fail-to-stop collision in Weymouth, police officers have made an arrest.

Dorset Police received a report at 4.12pm on Tuesday 17 June 2025 of a road traffic collision involving a car and a cyclist in Dennis Road in Weymouth.

It was reported that the car failed to stop at the scene.

Emergency services attended and the cyclist, a 12-year-old boy, was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be serious but not life-threatening or changing.

Following enquiries, officers have arrested a 60-year-old woman from Weymouth on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm and driving offences.

She has been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

Police Constable Michael Jones, of Dorset Police, said: “Our investigation into this reported incident is ongoing and we are continuing to appeal to any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please contact us.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything of relevance.”
