Not a good day for our local Non-League Football Teams, only one managed to gain a result, that was Weymouth at the Bob Lucas Stadium where a 90th minute penalty from Jake McCarthy salvaged a solitary Southern Premier League point against Bracknell Town to make the final score one all.
Our Man at the Match was very brief in his summing up of the game, he said: “Weymouth were very poor and saved from losing only by a last minute penalty that’s about all that I can say”.
In the same division Dorchester travelled to Berkhamstead and didn’t manage to trouble the scoreboard operator making the final score Comrades 1 vs Magpies nil.
In the Wessex Premier League Portland United took a coach ride to Hampshire and locked horns with AFC Stoneham returning to Grove Corner on the wrong end of a 4 goals to 1 score line, Greg Borthwick netting the Blues only goal.
Bridport’s flirtation with the FA Vase ended at St. Mary’s where they crashed out in the Preliminary Round, beaten by 5 goals to nil by Millbrook.

In the top of the Premier League clash Dorchester beat Poole by 6 wickets at the Rec and Bere Regis won at home against Broadstone by 5 wickets.
In Premier League 2, Martinstown overcame the challenge of Blandford by 2 wickets at Ashton Farm while in County Division 1 Weymouth had a 9 wickets victory over visitors Stalbridge at Redlands with the result confirming Weymouth’s League Championship, and Portland Red Triangle were beaten by Poole second team away by 96 runs.
