Dorchester hosted Gosport Borough on Saturday and for the first time they had manager Tom Killick’s new assistant Steve “Taffy” Richardson” in the dugout at the Avenue Stadium.
Richardson has a long association Killick as they both played for the Magpies back in the 1990’s and Richardson also turned out for Poole under Killick’s management.
The Magpies took the lead twice, but on both occasions were pegged back to make the final score Dorchester 2 Gosport Borough 2.
In the first half neither side managed to trouble the scoreboard operator, but it must be said that the visitors had the best of play and forced a succession of corners.
After the break Wayne Robinson netted the Magpies opener then Borough equalised.
The referee spotted an infringement in the Borough penalty area and up stepped Corby Moore the stroke home the penalty and place his team back in front.
The advantage didn’t last too long, and the visitors levelled again and despite both sides giving it there all in the time remaining there was no further scoring.
Weymouth hosted Uxbridge at the Bob Lucas Stadium and the game remained goalless despite the Terras being awarded a penalty.
Tom Bearwish took the spot kick, but the Uxbridge keeper managed to prevent it entering the net and the Southern Premier League points were shared 1 apiece.
Our Man at the Match said, “Weymouth played well in the second half with much more urgency, but failed to convert a penalty kick and it cost the Terras a 3 point result”.
Portland United visited Bournemouth Poppies and returned to the Royal Manor with all 3 Wessex Premier League points following a 3 nil victory.
Greg Borthwick banking a brace of goals for the Blues with Jamie Coombes scoring the other.
Bridport’s match at Crediton was postponed as was their reserves home Dorset Premier League fixture against Verwood.
