New Year, new start? Try free money coaching in Dorchester

The most popular 2026 New Year resolutions are exercise more, lose weight and eat more healthily, according to a poll by YouGov last month. But why not add the following? Create a budget, start saving, cut costs and get out of debt.

A local church offers free money coaching to help people manage their finances and reduce money worries. Dick Howard and fellow CAP money coaches will run two courses in January at the Dorford Centre, one on Saturday 17th January starting at 9.30am and the other on Tuesday 20th January at 2.00pm. Both will last three hours.

Course participants will learn how to put a budget together, make their money go further and be disciplined about spending.

As Dick explains, “The courses are tried and tested. They are also independent – no one is going to sell you any financial products. Best bit? It’s totally free.”

Dorchester Poverty Action and Dorchester Foodbank are generously sponsoring these courses with a £20 Co-op voucher for participants who live in DT1/DT2 postcodes**. The courses are run by Dorchester Baptist Church using material created by Christians Against Poverty
