A record number of participants take part in the Weymouth Half Marathon – in pictures

A record number of runners participated in the Weymouth event, which takes place in the Dorset town resort’s seafront and town centre.

In total, 1,500 athletes participated in the race over two distances, 13.1 miles and 6.55 miles.

Dave Newman from Bournemouth Athletics Club was first to cross the finishing line with a time of 01:12:04.

Race director Alan Rose was buoyed by the success of this year’s event and said he is looking to take the race ‘to the next level’ after the race’s biggest ever turnout.
