Man charged following serious injury collision in Weymouth in 2025

A man is due to appear in court following a serious injury collision in Weymouth that left a teenage cyclist with serious injuries.

Dorset Police received a report at 5.26pm on Thursday 10 April 2025 of a road traffic collision involving a van and a cyclist on The Esplanade, near to the Jubilee Clock Tower.

The cyclist – a teenage boy – was taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment to life-changing injuries. 

Following initial enquiries at the scene, a 34-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested at the scene.

After a detailed investigation, he has been issued with a postal requisition for causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Friday 20 March 2026.
