Dorchester market cafe drinks licence

by Trevor Bevins, Local Democracy Reporter.

Dorchester Market Café is asking for a premises licence to be able to sell alcohol – although with limited evening opening.

The café, which can seat around 70 people, is requesting on and off sales from Tuesday to Thursday from 8.30am until 2pm; on Friday from 8.30am until 8pm; Saturdays from 8.30am until 2pm and on Sundays from 8.30am until 3pm.

The business says it will operate a Challenge 25 policy asking for proof of age from anyone if believed to be under that age and will also have CCTV in place.

The Designated Premises Supervisor has been named in the application to Dorset Council as Mr James MacManus.

The public consultation on the proposed licence continued until the end of April.

The management of Dorchester’s weekly market changed, at the start of the month, from Ensors to Dorchester Town Council.
