Witness appeal following public order incident in Dorchester

Police officers investigating a report of a public order offence in Dorchester are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

At around 3pm on Saturday 4 July 2026 officers responded to a report of a man causing a disturbance and being aggressive towards members of the public in the area of the Fairfield Road car park.

The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence. During a search, he was also reportedly found in possession of a suspected class A drug and was further arrested for that offence. He remains in police custody at this time.

Police Constable Glen Caddy, of Dorchester police, said: “We are continuing to carry out detailed enquiries into this incident and from our investigation so far, we understand the man involved was reportedly seen chasing a woman in the area of Fairfield Road shortly before police attended. This woman is described as black and wearing a nurses or carers uniform.

“We are really keen to identify this woman as we want to make sure she is all right and take her account of what happened. I would urge her to please make contact with us.

“I would also like to speak to any further witnesses who have not already had contact with police, or anyone with information that might assist our enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55260100045. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
