Witness appeal following burglary at supermarket in Weymouth

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage to come forward following a burglary at a supermarket in Weymouth.

Dorset Police received a report at around 12.55am on Monday 27 July 2026 of a burglary at Morrisons in Dorchester Road.

It was reported that an attempt was made to steal money from a cash machine.

Officers quickly attended and a vehicle – a black Seat Leon – left the scene at speed. Following a search of the area, the Seat was located unattended in Carlton Road North.

Detective Inspector Rich Barnett, of Dorset County CID, said: “An investigation is ongoing and an examination of the scene has been carried out.

“We are appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious activity around Morrisons to please get in touch.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the occupants of a black Seat Leon flee the area in the early hours in the Carlton Road North area.

“If you have captured anything of relevance on home CCTV or dashcam footage, please come forward as you may be able to help us trace the offenders.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55260114445. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online using its website or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
