Pirates On Parade – in pictures

Idris Martin reporting.

Saturday 3rd October and an estimated 500 plus locals and visitors alike from the ages of 7 to 70 dressed up in Pirate costumes with ladies in their finery, some armed to the teeth, paraded around the Dorset resort for the Weymouth Pirate Festival 2026 organised by The Dolmen.

The parade was headed by a volley of drummers who led the march up St. Mary Street around the King’s Statue and then back down St. Thomas Street. Then the Pirates mingled with shoppers and pub-goers.

The event seems to get bigger every year it is held and long may it continue.
