Weymouth RNLI lifeboat was launched at 1.30am on Friday 25th June to go to the assistance of a 37’ catamaran with engine failure.

Solent Coastguard reported that the vessel which was broken down some 3 miles West of Portland Bill had a single sailor onboard who was exhausted. He was on passage from Salcombe to Portsmouth when the engine failed and was also unable to sail.

HMS Tamar stood by until the arrival of the lifeboat.

The yacht was taken under tow and brought back to Weymouth Harbour arriving at 4.30am.
