Weekend Sport Preview

All of our local football and rugby clubs will be keeping a close eye on the weather forecast for this weekend.

Weymouth whose midweek under 23 match at the Bob Lucas Stadium against Millbrook under 23’s was called off due to a waterlogged pitch entertain Welling for a National League South fixture.

In the Southern Premier League Dorchester travel to play Hanwell Town while a much changed Portland United team who crashed out of the Wessex League Cup on Tuesday evening losing 3 nil to visitors AFC Portchester will have to take their revenge on Saturday when they take the road to Porchester for a league game.

Bridport are scheduled to play Cullompton Rangers at St Mary’s in a Southwest Peninsular East fixture, but that match must be in doubt as the Bee’s game last weekend at St Mary’s against Sidmouth was postponed due to waterlogging.

Club chairman Adrian Scadding said, “I would say that the chances of the Cullompton game going ahead on Saturday are the very much in the balance”.

In the Tribute Dorset & Wilts Leagues Blandford are away against Oakmeadians.

On Sunday Weymouth Football Club’s women’s team welcome Stockwood Wanderers at the Bob Lucas and the Dorset & Wilts under 18 rugby squad travel to Maidenhead to lock horns with their Berkshire counterparts.

As usual, Idris has compiled a gallery of great photos which are ‘Blasts from the Past’. Follow this link to view them:
