Weekend Sports Preview

Weymouth Football Club’s senior men’s team host Aveley at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday for a National League South game.

The Terras are currently in 17th place in the league table while their guests lie in second behind leaders Yeovil, Aveley have failed to win in their last 3 outings, losing twice and drawing last time out so now may be a good time to meet them.

Weymouth defender David Sesay has issued the following statement since it was announced that he will be leaving the club.

Sesay said: “Unfortunately, my time at Weymouth has come to an end. Wanted to start by saying a massive thank you to the Gaffer Bobby Wilkinson the management team and all the fans.

“We both agree full-time football was an opportunity I just couldn’t turn down and leave on good terms”.

“It’s been a rollercoaster of a journey, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Wish the club the very best.”

Dorchester Senior men visit Salisbury for a Southern Premier League fixture after having a sabbatical last weekend while Portland entertain Andover New Street at Grove Corner and at Saint Mary’s Bridport reserves play hosts to Blandford United with that game kicking off at 2 00 pm.

On Sunday Pen Mill Ladies reserves welcome Bridport Ladies at Johnson Park.

There is not much local rugby action this weekend, but Blandford do travel to play Oakmeadians away in the Tribute Dorset & Wilts league on Saturday.

Dorchester Football Club chairman Scott Symes stepping down at the end of the season, his successor is yet to be named.
