Air Ambulance’s Iconic Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge Returns for 25th Anniversary Year

Cyclists from across the South West are gearing up for a spectacular ride in support of a vital charity. Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance’s Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge returns on Saturday, 10 May 2025. This year, the event is extra special as it marks the charity’s 25th anniversary of saving lives.

With places filling fast, now is the time to dust off your bike, rally your friends, and sign up for one of the most scenic and rewarding charity rides in the region.

The event offers two route options: a 55-mile route from Watchet Harbour in Somerset to West Bay in Dorset, and a shorter family-friendly 11-mile route from The Royal Oak in Drimpton to West Bay.

With a mixture of quiet back roads, interspersed with some very demanding climbs and equally hairy descents, Coast to Coast has something to offer for everyone! There are several pit-stops along the route, which provide a well-earned rest and refreshments.

The charity hopes the public will come out in support of those taking part, cheering on the cyclists at the start, along the route, or at the finish line.

With limited spots available, now is the perfect time to secure your place in this exciting challenge. Cyclists can take part as individuals or in teams and are encouraged to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship. Every pound helps keep the air ambulance flying, with each mission costing around £3,500.

Alana Hardy, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Events Officer, said: “This year’s Coast to Coast is more than just a bike ride – it’s a celebration of 25 years of saving lives, and we want you to be a part of this milestone! With just over two weeks to go until event day, spaces are filling up for our 14th Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge. It will be another exciting day across the two counties, bringing people together whilst raising much needed funds. Don’t miss out, secure your place today! We can’t wait to see you all.”

Entry fees:
• 55-mile route: Adults £40 | Under 16′s £20
• 11-mile route: Adults £20 | Under 16′s £10
