Weekend Sports Report

Dorchester Football Club kicked off their pre-season on Friday evening with a 3- 0 win away at Hamworthy United.

Tom Smith, Wayne Robinson and a “Trialist” getting the Magpies’ goals.

Portland United welcomed visitors Bridport to Grove Corner on Saturday afternoon and made it 2 pre-season victories from 3 outings, the Blues’ only loss coming against Weymouth last week.

United’s scores came from Pat Jenkins, who netted a pair, and Josh Camp, making the final score Portland United 3, Bridport 1.

In the Dorset League Cricket Premier Division, Dorchy hosted Sherborne at the Rec. The north Dorset side had 16-year-old Ralph Dunne opening their innings. Their prodigy, who was on 99, completed his century with an outrageous reverse sweep before holing out to the next delivery, taking his final tally to 103 runs.

Ralph Dunne completes his century with an outrageous reverse sweep.

However, Dunne’s century wasn’t enough to win his team a victory as Dorchester won the game by 4 wickets.

In the same division, Bere Regis were beaten away by Poole by 9 wickets, while in Premier 2 Martinstown lost at Chalk Valley by 91 runs and Blandford won at Marnhull by 95 runs.

In County Division 1, Weymouth travelled to play Royal Challenger’s Sports Club and returned to Redlands with a 9-wicket win in the bank.
